Frequently Asked Questions
Who won yesterday's cricket match?
This page lists finished matches with the most recent first, each with both scores and the result line. Open a match to see the innings behind the result.
What does "won by 6 wickets" or "won by 45 runs" mean?
A side that bats second and passes the target wins by the number of wickets it still had in hand. A side that bats first and defends its total wins by the number of runs it finished ahead.
What is the DLS method?
The Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method resets the target when rain or another interruption shortens a limited-overs match. It works from the overs and the wickets each side has left, so the target changes rather than the match being scrapped.
What is a super over?
When a limited-overs match finishes level, some competitions decide it with one extra over a side. Each team bats that over and the higher score wins. It is a competition rule rather than a Law of the game, so not every tied match has one.
What is the difference between a draw and a tie?
A tie means both sides finished on exactly the same score with the innings completed. A draw means the match simply ran out of time without a winner, which is why it happens in Test cricket and not in a limited-overs game.
Can I see the full scorecard for a finished match?
Yes, when the provider published one. The match page shows the innings totals it holds, with batting and bowling detail underneath where that has been supplied.
How far back do the results go?
As far back as the matches stored on the site. This is a live record that grows forward, not a complete historical archive of the sport. For career leaders across the data we hold, see the records page.
