How to Improve Batting Timing
Better timing helps you hit the ball with less effort. Practice watching the ball and moving early.
Start batting with a solid stance and a simple setup. These basics help you watch the ball and stay balanced.

Batting looks complicated from the boundary, but it rests on a few basics. Get the stance and the setup right and everything else becomes easier to learn.
Stand side-on to the bowler with your feet about shoulder-width apart, either side of the crease line. Bend your knees slightly. Keep your weight balanced rather than sitting back on your heels.
Your head is the most important part. Both eyes should be level and looking down the pitch at the bowler. If your head tilts, your balance goes with it.
Lift the bat back as the bowler runs in, not after the ball is released. Starting late is the most common reason a beginner feels rushed. A backlift towards second slip is normal and helps the bat come down straight.
Watch the ball out of the bowler’s hand and keep watching it onto the bat. Most early dismissals come from looking at where you want to hit rather than at the ball itself.
Leaving well is a skill, not a failure to score. Good players build an innings on the balls they refuse.
Pick one reaction. You can change it at any time.
